Community Board: Why I Can't Get KL Out Of My System

A lot can be revealed through the dynamics of a symbiotic relationship, a relationship where one can’t live without the other. Most of you, if you know me at all, know me from the song I wrote many years ago. In this song I wrote about a city, one that had captivated me in so many ways that not even a song could rightly express. People asked me why I came here, why Malaysia? And being that they still ask me that question, I’m quite happy to go into a degree of detail in this article that you may not get if you caught me on the street or in the club.

Focus Focus: The Wayang of the Times

I had a wonderful chance to visit Solo, Indonesia recently for a research trip to look at what was happening in contemporary Solo in the world of wayang kulit. It was a wonderful experience, and made me think a lot about how we're looking after our intangible heritage, and how we (dis?)connect with all that has been left with us by our forebears.

The Valley Girl: Where Comics Meet Reality

I'm a huge fan of comics. In most of my social circles that’s looked upon as either really cool, or really geeky. With other comic book fans, I sit for hours discussing themes and role-playing about whom we could be in real life based on our personal attributes. I've been told that I somehow represent the duality in the She-Hulk, timid in most situations, but not to be messed with when angry.

By some stroke of genius, I filled up my tank the night before the fuel prices went up. The next day, on the way to an event, traffic jams of epic proportions abounded in our fair city.
