It'll Be Easy Being Green

Posted on 31 July 2008 by sookmei

For the last 18 years, the iconic green façade of Lot 10 is one that symbolized to tourists and locals alike that you have arrived on Jalan Bukit Bintang. But 18 years is a long time to be wearing the same old look and that is why Lot 10 is due for a much-needed facelift. Besides the obvious renovations, the Lot 10 brand is set to be re-positioned and re-branded by YTL Corporation into one that “re-establishes it as an icon of urban lifestyle, shopping and entertainment”.

Big promises, but how exactly do they plan to live up to that statement? Well it begins at the top … the Roof Top that is. With the help of uber designer Yuhkichi Kawai (who designed the eye candy that is Starhill’s Feast Village), Lot 10’s roof top will be transformed into an urban oasis featuring concept restaurants, stylish bars and designer nightclubs (rumour is that two UK-branded clubs will be brought down!) and a gym. Will this give super mall Pavilion some competition? We’ll find out when renovations are complete tentatively at the end of this year.

ah - I thought the "going green" and the "rooftop" was about installing solar cells to reduce the consumption of energy inside ;) Apparently nobody cares about that in Malaysia and its everyday increasing number of malls, uhn? what a shame.
