Posted on 27 June 2008 by sarahChangkat Bukit Bintang is going to mean more than just scrumptious lunches and tapas and wine at night when Cloth & Clef rolls out this month. Ambitiously trying to redefine the entire street, Cloth & Clef is a concept store that is equal parts live music venue, bar, clothing boutique and art gallery. Yeah, that’s a mouthful. But owner and founder Ethaya is confident the street is ready for a long-overdue shakeup. He plans to stock up his urban fashion section with limited editions of handpicked brands, ranging from approximately RM70 for a tee to around RM1500 for a high-end pair of denims; chances are if you pick something up at C&C you’re likely to be the only one wearing it, ever. He’s also got the live music down: the first three months of C&C’s operations have been booked solid, with almost every night being taken up by one genre or another – DJ T-Bone and Joe Flizzow, Reza Salleh and DJ Ribut of Twilight Actiongirl are all on board. Ethaya is keeping his art gallery options open, and wants nothing more than to provide a space for local and regional creative types to express themselves. In fact, if you figure you’ve got a good thing going with your craft – whatever it may be – you should run it by Cloth & Clef and see if Ethaya is willing to showcase your product, be it a mix set, a mixed-media installation, a t-shirt or a vinyl figure. These guys seem to be up for anything good.
