I Want My Popteevee
Posted on 27 June 2008 by sarahHardesh Singh wears many hats: producer, composer, musician and most recently, British Council Malaysia's International Young Music Entrepreneur 2008 winner. Now, you can add new media mogul to the list. After launching Popfolio, an online music community, some time back, he is following it up with Popteeve. This venture into online television includes three shows, namely The Fairly Current Show (with Fahmi Fadzil and Mark Teh working on it), a music-centric one called The Wknd Sessions and a student-generated campus news channel which has not been named.
The Fairly Current Show, hosted by Fahmi, is a weekly 7-minute talk show that brings on guest to talk about current affairs in a quirky and accessible manner. The first episode featured renowned architect Ng Sek San, with guests like Shanon Shah, Jacqueline Ann Surin, Pete Teo and Yasmin Ahmad scheduled to appear in future episodes. Shot in Hardesh's studio, the whole feel of the show is very DIY and personal, with just one couch, a sign that keeps falling off and nothing else. The other two shows have yet to debut at time of writing, but we're definitely curious to see more! New episodes of The Fairly Current Show debuts every Thursday, while new episodes for The Wknd Sessions debut every Friday.
