Posted on 26 June 2008 by sarahTechnically, theobroma refers to a small genus of cocoa trees, but we like its other definition better: food of the gods. Seriously, does any other food evoke as much joy and excitement the way chocolate can?
If you’re of the chocoholic persuasion, then you’ll certainly feel as though the gods have granted your wishes when Theobroma Chocolate Lounge opens here in July. Originally from Australia, the chocolate lounge has since expanded to New Zealand with Malaysia being one of the first few Asian countries to have a Theobroma. Lucky us.
The lounge offers what they term a “Total Chocolate Concept”. What this means is that you get to pick from a wide variety of chocolates, chocolate beverages both hot and cold, melted chocolate dips, chocolate desserts, chocolate waffles … you get the idea. The lounge is most popular for their Hot Mugs, where a flame keeps your hot chocolate, well, hot.
Theobroma’s ambience is design to lull you into a state of relaxation with comfy leather chairs and mellow music. Just imagine sinking into a couch and sipping on a cup of decadent chocolate frappe. And caffeine hunters can rejoice for they also serve coffee and tea to keep you buzzed. Look out for Theobroma Chocolate Lounge to open in Pavilion KL and 1 Utama. We forsee that it could potentially give coffee chains a good run for their money. After all, you just can’t top chocolate.

Just returned from Melbourne. They are the best belgian chocolates and chocolate beverages i have tasted, try the coconut truffle and the blue hexagon!! I went back 3x - the waffle is very very good lah!
Waffle and dark belgian chocolate in mug & warmer. Ada candle to keep chocolate warm in mug, tastes very good

Hi KX, at that time of writing (which was in june), the stores weren't opened yet. it is planned to open this month, and once we get info that they have open their doors, we will update this story.
but if it helps, the outlets are located in 1 Utama and Pavilion.
okay, just got word that the official launching for Theobroma in Pavilion is on 28 July.

Visited Theobroma Chocolate Lounge at Pavilion, below GSC cinema.
Tried it's Ms. Coco - dark belgian chocolate frappe - it's so heavenly... no wonder ' Theobroma' means 'food of the gods'. It's the taste so heavenly that it's like the taste of happiness !
